“You’re not Steph or Klay” NBA Twitter roasts Heat star Jimmy Butler for his confounding clutch decision in Game 7 vs Celtics
Jimmy Butler missing game winner against Boston Celtics in Game 7
Miami Heat megastar Jimmy Butler received huge criticism for trying out a “game-winner” with some time on the clock. Miami lost the game and crashed out of the NBA postseason with that particular spoken off attempt.
Game-7 of the Eastern Conference Finals was a very tight encounter, as both teams went neck to neck till the final seconds in the game. Miami, playing on the home court had the crowd behind them but Celtics also kept their composure and kept pressurizing the Miami team to have the upper hand in the game. Boston entered the 4th quarter with a a marginal 7-point lead and focused on their defense to protect the same. Miami did make some late surge in the game and even cut the lead to just 2 points with around 15 seconds left in the game. Jimmy Bulter, feeling hot offensively tried a game-winning 3-pointer from the right wing, but it bounced off the rim and the final possession went to the Celtics.
Marcus Smart made both free throws and made it a 2 possession game with time running out of Miami’s hand. Though it was considerably an open look, tired Butler failed to drain the most important shot of Miami’s 2022 season, for which he was heavily trolled by some NBA Fans.
Jimmy Butler’s Hero to Zero moment; Trolled by NBA Twitter
Jimmy Butler was certainly the influential player from the Miami Heat side, and he proved time-in-time out in the postseason too. He led the team in scoring and steals in the regular season, while his offensive form continued in the playoffs too.
But then come defensively strong Boston Celtics, who managed to hold off Kevin Durant-Kyrie Irving in 1st round and also reigning Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo to proceed to the conference finals. Butler still exerted his will, playing with the “knee issue”, won game 6 for the Heat, and played all 48 minutes of Game-7.
Tired Jimmy seemed all charged up for the final seconds and wanted to end the game as quickly as possible. Erik Spoelstra sensing the need drew a 3-point game-winner, but Butler couldn’t finish off the open go-ahead 3-pointer. He was heartbroken, and so were the Miami fans, but some fans took leverage to target Jimmy Butler for a “missed shot”.
