In the semifinals of the NBA In-Season tournament, Jose Alvarado and the New Orleans Pelicans face off against the Los Angeles Lakers. As glory and enticing rewards await, the Pelicans’ point guard, known as “Grand Theft Alvarado,” envisions an alternative use for his prize money if he emerges victorious.

Opting against acquiring a luxurious car or indulging in a Bahamas getaway, he intends to invest the prize money in his two daughters, aged 1 and 3, as well as his 14-year-old stepdaughter.

While speaking to Marc Spears of Andscape,

I will not touch the money. My financial team will act like I never made it. It’s not for me. It’s not in my hands. I’m living my life. They got to live their lives and I don’t want them to struggle at all.

He continued:

I ain’t struggling now. I’m blessed to be financially good. So why do I need to add that extra load? Let that grow and let them have it. It’s a great opportunity to do that. I just want this game to keep me blessed and I don’t want my kids to worry about nothing

Having secured $100,000 for reaching the Semifinals with an impressive on-the-road victory, Jose Alvarado and his team upset the Sacramento Kings with a 127-117 triumph. In that game, he contributed 9 points, three rebounds, and three assists. As they prepare to face the LA Lakers on Friday, a challenging task lies ahead.
