Kyle Lowry has seen it all in his 17 seasons in the NBA. The Miami Heat guard has played with and against some of the best duos in the league’s history. But he still can’t help but marvel at the Denver Nuggets’ dynamic duo of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, who have led their team to within three wins of their first NBA championship.
Lowry was asked on Saturday, a day before Game 2 of the NBA Finals, if he could think of another big-man guard tandem that reminded him of Jokic and Murray. He didn’t hesitate to name two of the most decorated players of all time: Tim Duncan and Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs.
“Tim Duncan and Tony Parker, honestly,” Lowry said. “That’s a great combination that I got an opportunity to play against. I mean, Jamal and Jokić, they’re deadly. They both can score, pass the ball, they’re big targets. They have a great feel for each other.”
Lowry got a firsthand look at how lethal Jokic and Murray can be in Game 1 when they combined for 53 points and 24 assists in a 104-93 win over the Heat.
Jokić, who has won two MVP awards in his career, has been putting up historic numbers in the playoffs. He is averaging 29.8 points, 13.1 rebounds and 10.5 assists per game while recording nine triple-doubles. Murray has been equally impressive as Jokić’s sidekick. He is averaging 27.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game, while scoring at least 20 points in every playoff game so far.

Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray have unmatched chemistry on the court
The difference between Jokić and Murray and Duncan and Parker, of course, is that the latter pair won four championships together with the Spurs. Jokić and Murray are still chasing their first ring with the Nuggets.
But they have shown that they have what it takes to compete at the highest level. They have developed a strong bond and chemistry on the court, especially in the pick-and-roll, where they can exploit any defense.
The Heat will have to figure out a way to slow down Jokić and Murray if they want to avoid falling behind 2-0 in the series. Game 2 will tip off on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET at Ball Arena. The Nuggets will look to take a commanding lead, while the Heat will try to bounce back and steal home-court advantage.
