The intensity of the matchup between the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets finally boiled over. The Nikola Jokic-led Nuggets faced the Suns in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals in Phoenix. The closely contested game could have gone in any direction as the first half ended at 63-61, favoring the Suns.
Though, the half didn’t end without any drama as an unexpected sequence took the NBA World by storm. Former league MVP and Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic seemed on edge during the tightly-contested battle between the two teams. That frustration resulted in a terrible sequence involving Phoenix Suns’ owner Mat Ishbia. With 2 minutes and 36 seconds left in the second quarter, the ball went out of bounds.
Jokic went near the courtside seat to retrieve the ball and got into an altercation with Ishbia. There was some physical contact and Jokic shoved the Suns owner with his elbow. The arena immediately erupted as the officials came in between to stop matters from getting worse. Jokic was pulled back by Aaron Gordon to make sure the altercation didn’t escalate.
Mat Ishbia seemed well versed with the techniques of players on the court as he tried his level best to flop. He did succeed as Nikola Jokic was issued a technical foul for his behavior of shoving the Suns’ owner.

NBA Twitter reacts as Nikola Jokic Shoves Phoenix Suns’ Owner Matt Ishbia
It is no surprise that fans took to Twitter to express their feelings after Nikola Jokic shoved the Suns’ owner. While Jokic was frustrated, fans equally expressed their discontentment with Ishbia’s flopping skills. Let us now look at the fan reactions to Jokic shoving Phoenix Suns’ owner:
Normal service resumed in the second half, as the two teams went back and forth. Jokic continued to play splendidly and finished the game with a playoff career-high 53 points. He also dished out 11 assists and grabbed four rebounds in a performance for the ages, but it didn’t prove enough as the Suns edged out the Nuggets and won 129-124 to wipe out Denver’s 2-0 lead in the series.
Kevin Durant and Devin Booker led the way with 36 points each and helped their side avoid slipping 3-1 down in the series and one defeat away from elimination. The two teams will now head to Denver for Game 5, where Jokic’s participation is not guaranteed. The league will investigate the incident and hand out a ruling, which could be a fine of Mat Ishbia and Jokic or a suspension to either or both parties. The Nuggets will hope that they wouldn’t have to play the crucial Game 5 without their superstar. It remains to be seen what the NBA decides.
