The Denver Nuggets franchise’s mascot, Rocky, has been revealed to be the highest-paid mascot in the NBA. The Franchise which entered the NBA Finals for the very first time has been the fan favorite for some time now. Rocky, the Mountain Lion, seems to be following in the same footsteps, being the fan-favorite mascot. Rocky’s stated salary, $625k a year, is roughly ten times the average NBA mascot’s salary, that being $60k. It is also about thrice the salary of the highest-paid WNBA players and multiple times that of the average salary of WNBA players.
Rocky the mascot’s rise to fame was accompanied by the Nuggets’ rise in the tables. Mascots bear significant responsibility for captivating the crowd at every game. The Denver Nuggets undeniably recognize the invaluable contributions of Rocky. NBA mascots play a crucial role in team entertainment throughout the league, and there’s no denying that it can be a demanding position. Considering the demands of the job, it is reasonable for them to earn a substantial income.
The news of Rocky earning a sum this big was bound to put the NBA world in splits. And you best believe that is exactly what happened. Diana Taurasi, Jewell Lloyd, and Arike Ogunbowale are the three highest-paid WNBA athletes being paid the same amount. Rocky alone almost makes what the Top 3 athletes from the WNBA make combined. Fans were astonished to find out this sum, and they had hilarious reactions to it.
