Obi Toppin was practicing with Derrick Rose’s son, PJ Rose when he ran toward a young fan. She was wearing Toppin’s jersey and was excited to see him ‘again’. As the New York Knicks star ran to her he shook her hand and let her know he was happy to meet her.

Toppin asked the young fan if she wanted him to sign the jersey, but she just wanted to know if he remembered her. Toppin quickly answered that he did remember her. He said, “I do.” The Brooklyn-born NBA star signed her jersey.

NBA players meet hundreds of fans every day and it is impossible to remember their names and faces. It wouldn’t be justice to villainize them. Even if Toppin did not remember her name, it was definitely a good gesture from him to tell her that he remembers her. In her defense, the young girl was too cute to be forgotten. And, now the star will also remember her name. As Obi interacting with Emily and signing her jersey said: “I’ll remember your name now.”

The Knicks lost the game to Bucks 103-109 in a brutal onslaught from Giannis Antetokounmpo, who scored game-high 37 points, shooting 13-25 from the field. Obi Toppin played 13 minutes in the game and scored 7 points, making 2 of 5 three-point shots from the field.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo again came determined in the game. Giannis has been consistently performing at an MVP level this season. He scored a game-high 37 points and had 13 rebounds and seven assists. Four players from the Bucks scored in double digits. Behind Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday scored 22 points.

From the Knicks, four players scored in double digits, and just one crossed the 20 points mark in the game. RJ Barret scored team-high 26 points, and Julius Randle and Brunson both added 18 and 17 points respectively. It was a bad night for the New York Knicks as they shot only 42 percent from the field and just 20 percent from beyond the arc. But that was not it, they tanked from the free-throw line as well; they shot 56 percent of their free throws.

Knicks’ head coach wasn’t happy with the way his team approached the game and remarked that his team did lack urgency. “At the end, I thought we had more urgency and did a better job, but you have to play for 48 minutes against these guys,” Thibodeau said. “I don’t think we did that.” The loss against the Bucks was the Knicks’ 12th loss of the season as they stand 10th in the Eastern Conference.
