“Pelicans need to trade him” – Latest Zion Williamson update leaves NBA fans FRUSTRATED

The New Orleans Pelicans have had a massive fall this NBA season after being the #1 seed in the initial stages to being in the play-in race following Zion Williamson‘s injury. Williamson has struggled with injury problems ever since he came into the league and has only played one 60-game season. NBA fans are calling for the New Orleans Pelicans to let go of him as he is holding them back.
The latest update for Zion has put him out for the playoffs with his thigh injury that was sustained on January 2nd. “He never plays“, said one fan on Twitter as Zion has played over 30 games only once in his three seasons in the NBA. Zion however was an all-star when he played 61 games and was an all-star this season as well up until he got injured.
“What is taking so long? It’s time to trade him“, said one fan on Twitter. Zion’s injury had no timetable and this recent update is the only update that the Pelicans have given their fans. Zion also had concerns with his fitness when he got injured in 2021 as he reportedly put on a lor of weight. Fans feel the Pelicans should either trade him or tank as they would not get far in the playoffs without him.
Zion Williamson has New Orleans Pelicans fans wanting to tank the season
The New Orleans Pelicans are currently the 8th seed in the Western Conference and are fighting for a play-in spot with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Pelicans did make the playoffs last year without Zion and scared the Phoenix Suns but were eventually eliminated in the first round. Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum have been at their best but Zion is the anchor of that team.
“They should’ve tanked then, bottle,” replied another fan in response to the Pelicans’ playoff hopes. New Orleans without Zion have a 24-27 record in the NBA this season. Zion Williamson was their leading scorer while playing and had them looking like serious title contenders. Since his injury, the Pelicans have continued to freefall in the Western Conference.
The Pelicans might see Cancun after the NBA play-ins as they could face the Los Angeles Lakers in their play-in game who are in revived form. Some fans felt for Zion as his talents are being hindered due to injury and said – “When he’s plays he’s so good too shit sucks.” Zion will look to most likely return next season and will hope the Pelicans and their fans still have faith in him.
