Russell Westbrook has been performing at the highest level coming off the bench. Over the last week, the player has experienced some of his highest moments since the start of the season all thanks to his willingness to change and Darvin Ham’s top-tier coaching. He may possibly make a run for the Sixth Man of the Year Award.

The Lakers have won two games since Russ started coming off the bench. On several occasions, former coach Frank Vogel and current leader Darvin Ham have expressed their willingness to bench him but only one of them was successful enough to get an entire plan laid out. Last night, the MVP guard scored 26 points in pursuit to earn a third victory for the Lakers.

During the first quarter of the game, Russell Westbrook helped the Lakers cut down their deficit by a single point after putting Utah Jazz’s Jordan Clarkson to work in the paint. Brodie hit the former 6MOTY with a spin to the basketball and proceeded to do his iconic “rock the baby” gesture.

On his way back to defense, Russell Westbrook approached his teammate Patrick Beverley and gestured as if he was handing over the baby very carefully. These moments tend to happen when Westbrook is in his element and last night was one of those beloved instances. Laker nation loved seeing the point guard do his thing, they took to the comments saying:

Russell Westbrook has put out some incredible numbers in his last few appearances. It was quite a showing out after he went 0-11 from the field earlier this season. Midway through the game, the Crypto Arena crowd began to chant “MVP” while he approached the foul line to shoot free throws. His emergence could be the key to their success in the near future.

Unlike his fiery start, LeBron James has slowed down a bit on offense putting up only 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers. Recently, Bron’s three-point percentage has dipped drastically which in turn has affected his contributions on offense. Anthony Davis has slowly started to find his feet after finishing with 22 points and 8 rebounds all while throwing monster jams.
