“Watch me destroy everybody next season” Russell Westbrook is ALL-IN to compete with Los Angeles Lakers next season
Russell Westbrook has had a long off-season filled drama and rumors. For someone to face as much as he has, they would have had two foot out the door by then. But Brodie stood firm and faced it all with the intention of only redeeming himself next season and nothing else.
The 9x NBA All-Star told ESPN that he was going to completely dedicate himself to get as much success as he can for the Los Angeles Lakers. The player is set to exercise his $47 million extention with the team moving into his second year with them as well.
“I don’t need to. I need to just do my job. Whether I’m wanted or not doesn’t really matter. I think the most important thing is that I show up for work and I do the job like I’ve always done it: Be professional and go out and play my ass off and compete.”
Russell Westbrook has set high expectations for the 2022-23 Season
Last season, Russell Westbrook averaged an unusual 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists. He had a load of harsh criticism directed towards him with experts claiming he has lost his mojo. It is true that Russ was much less athletic and explosive when compared to his season with the Washington Wizards.
But with him agreeing to work with the Lakers for another season means he is willing to bring change and deal with the changes that will be implemented by new head coach Darvin Ham. Coach plans on using Russell Westbrook as the defensive centerpiece pairing him up with Patrick Beverley and their other defensive pieces.
Anthony Davis will play a pivotal role coming into the new season. For over two years, the player has suffered staying consistent or healthy. The Lakers have used him and LeBron James as their main pieces ever since they were first paired up. However, LeBron cannot be fully relied on due to his age.
