Shannon Sharpe calls the Warriors ‘pretenders’ instead of ‘contenders’ after they lost to the Clippers despite Stephen Curry dropping 50 points
Shannon Sharpe has no interest in the Golden State Warriors championship talks after their ninth road loss in a row against the Los Angeles Clippers
Stephen Curry
Shannon Sharpe calls out the Golden State Warriors after their shambolic performance against the Los Angeles Clippers despite Stephen Curry dropping 50-points. “You shoot 56% from the field on the road and you lose by eight because you can’t get stops,” said Shannon Sharpe on Undisputed. The Warriors gave up 73 points in the second half to the Los Angeles Clippers.
“The Warriors are not contenders, they’re pretenders. They can’t win on the road and get stops,” said Shannon Sharpe. The Warriors lost their 9th consecutive road game on Wednesday night which is not the sign of a championship team. The Warriors will mostly be going into the playoffs without home-court advantage and if they can’t win on the road right now who says they can even make it past the first round.
“Steph Curry is Steph Curry; Klay is playing better this year than last. But it’s all for nothing because they’re not the same team defensively, ” said Shannon Sharpe while analyzing why the Warriors have struggled this season. Shannon feels the replacements they brought in for the missing pieces from last year have yet to work out, as the Warriors lack defensive intensity like never before.

The Golden State Warriors played themselves into a loss against the Los Angeles Clippers despite Stephen Curry’s heroics
The Warriors fouled way more than they should have against the Clippers, as their defense was all over the place last night. The Clippers shot 32 free throws compared to the Warrior’s 15, which was the biggest, most significant difference from last night. The Warriors were also under-par while getting rebounds as they gave up 16 offensive rebounds to the Clippers, resulting in 27 second-chance points.
Golden State needs help finding their defensive rhythm on the road giving up 16 turnovers to add to their misery. The Warriors cut the lead to six points with just under 4 minutes remaining but could not push forward. A string of 7 unanswered points by Ivica Zubac and Paul George essentially put the game out of their hands. Steph Curry did his best dropping nine quick points in the 4th before the game went out of reach.
Shannon Sharpe has rightfully called the Warriors pretenders as teams who lose on the road so often can never win a championship. Golden State has been a top5 team at home in the league this season, but their disparity in form is different from theirs. Stephen Curry will have to rally his troops together if the Warriors want to repeat their success from last season.
