Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Boston Celtics by 122-188 in overtime on Tuesday. The Lakers had a good chance to seal the victory in the last seconds of the 4th quarter when they were leading by 2 points. Davis missed two consecutive free throws which were followed by a masterful fadeaway from Jayson Tatum to even the game and send it into overtime.

Before going to the free throw line, Davis was 11 of 13 from the charity line, but with 28.2 seconds left in the 4th quarter, he was once again on the line to extend the Lakers’ lead. The Lakers were leading 110-108 when Anthony Davis went to the free-throw line. To the surprise of many, the Brow missed both crucial free throws keeping it a single-possession game. Tatum made a turnaround fadeaway jumper over LeBron James to even the score.

The Lakers still had a chance to win the game in the 4th quarter, but Bron’s step-back three-pointer hit the iron, and just like that, the game went to overtime. The Celtics outplayed the Lakers 12-8 in the overtime to seal the victory. NBA analyst and former NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe like many knew that the game was over when Davis missed the free throws. On his Twitter handle, he wrote, “Knew it was over when AD missed those FTs.” The Lakers will face Denver Nuggets on Friday in Los Angeles and will look to bounce back from another tough loss.

The game between the old rivals was for sure a game of superstar performances, as the best guys in the league showed up when the time demanded. However, at the end of the 4th quarter, both Lebron and Davis seemed gassed out as compared to the Celtics’ young duo; Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. In the overtime, James tried a few 3-point shots to get back into the game Celtics were leading after continuous assault on the Lakers’ defense.

Los Angeles had a 20-point deficit in the 2nd half of the game and seemed to have been over in the early 3rd quarter. However, 4 points from two continuous steals from James and a corner-made 3-point shot from Lonnie Walker IV in the last minutes of the 3rd quarter gave the Lakers a much-needed push. By the end of the 3rd quarter, the Lakers were only down by 6-points.
