Russell Westbrook was never downgraded as much as he is these days. The player was a dominant phenom who lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to several deep playoffs during the early 2010s. Of course not to forget his insane ability to contribute on difference ends of the floor.
The currently point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers has all the history and records under his name. But that does not imply that he is a flawless player. His ability to shoot has been mediocre or poor at times. He averages a career 30.5% from three which sometimes dips under 30% and also 78.3% from the line. His game shows that he is very comfortable finishing at the rim.
Russell Westbrook struggles to find a perfect situation for himself
Last season was a let down for Lakers fans. A good portions of the blame was directed at Russell Westbrook who failed to show much athleticism or leadership to which he says he was not allowed to be himself. He averaged 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists which is the lowest he has contributed in over a decade.
The Lakers considered trading Russ to reunite LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, but the package was not tight enough to be considered by the Brooklyn Nets. Several other packages involving the San Antonio Spurs and Indiana Pacers have been offered. These trades are still in the works but the former MVP will most likely stay for another season.
Shannon Sharpe reacts to Bleacher Report’s “Brutal” trade packages for Russell Westbrook
Recently, Bleacher Report released a list of trades that would be perfect for Russell Westbrook to go ahead with. Shannon Sharpe however had a different opinion. “You got a choice. You got your horse manure, cow manure, pig manure, elephant manure, or hippo manure. C’mon man, what is this? You want me to take Julius Randle four years and a $117 million? No, thank you.”
“I don’t want anything. I’ll stay with Russ. I think the option that’s going to be, probably, more than likely get done, is probably Russ, the first-round pick, and THT going to Indie for Myles Turner, Booker, T.J. Mcconnell, and they throw Austin Reaves in there. I believe that’s a scenario that’s most likely to happen. But these other deals, I want no parts of those. The Lakers out of their damn mind if they do these deals. Any of them.”
