Shannon Sharpe supports Kevin Durant’s stand of running away from the ‘All-Time Greats’ spotlight
Shannon Sharpe and Kevin Durant
Shannon Sharpe came in support of Kevin Durant for avoiding being mentioned in the GOAT conversation. Kevin Durant is largely considered one of the greatest scorers in NBA history, if not the greatest. The former Golden State Warriors star has constantly and consistently stated that he doesn’t want to compete with players in the league and just wants to play basketball. Durant has been very vocal about his love for the game.
The Brooklyn Nets star spoke to the Washington Post and discussed the facets of his life as a basketball player and his growth in the league. Durant also talked about the lessons he has learned so far in the league. One of the things that made the media highlight was his take on the GOAT conversation. Durant said that the only reason he is as invested as he is in the game is because of his love for the basketball.
Speaking about the GOAT debate and his place among the greatest in the game, Durant said he doesn’t care about the narrative. “LeBron or [Michael Jordan].’ I don’t give a sh*t about that,” said Durant. “I want to wake up every day and do what I do. If we win, I know that stuff comes with me being the best that I can be,” he added.
Supporting Durant, Shannon Sharpe, the former NFL great said that Durant wants to be the best of himself and wants to be at peace with himself. According to Shannon KD thinks, “if i can be the best I can possibly be I can lay my head on my pillow and sleep good at night.” Sharpe also admitted to the fact that the Nets star just want to ball and is not obsessed with being the greatest. “He is not obsessed… the man just wants to ball,” he said.
Shannon Sharpe thinks Golden State Warriors was the best place for Kevin Durant
When asked about leaving the Warriors, Durant said, “It was another pivot, I just wanted to play ball somewhere else.” However, Shannon also believes that Golden State was the best place for a player like Kevin Durant. “If you say you just want to hoop and not worry about anything, the best place to do that was where you were,” Sharpe said about Durant.
According to Sharpe the Warriors as an organization has players who are completely dedicated to the game of basketball. Alluding to the fact that Kyrie Irving and the controversies surrounding him have been a constant distraction for the Brooklyn Nets, joining forces with Kyrie Irving was a bad decision on Kevin Durant’s part. “You had 3 other guys, all that might not be as talented… although you can make a case for Steph Curry, they were equally as invested as you were,” said the former NFL star.
