Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry is back with both his partners in crime- Draymond Green and Klay Thompson after two years in the playoffs. Given that the Golden State Warriors were locked in a serious battle against Nikola Jokic’s Denver Nuggets in the first-round, strong performances from the Chef coming off the bench, managed to let Dubs take a comforting upper hand in this particular series.

However even after leading the Dubs past the Nuggets in the first-round, sports media personality Skip Bayless has raised major question on the ability of Stephen Curry’s leadership, in the deeper stages of the playoffs. On the latest episode of Undisputed, alongside co-host Shannon Sharpe, Bayless suggested that the Warriors would only go as far as Curry could lead them.

The 70-year-old analyst stated, “This new Golden State Warriors team will go as far as you know who carries them and that is Stephen Curry. He has too often come up smaller than he is in postseason games, especially the biggest kind.

“I’ll never get over the way Steph handed LeBron that ring that year up 3-1. This is his time. All of a sudden, the skies have cleared and who is the biggest star left? It’s Steph by far.”

Bayless does have a point; Stephen Curry’s form could be a huge and probably the most important factor in deciding where the Golden State Warriors finish in the playoffs. Although Jordan Poole, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green among others have contributed decently in the postseason thus far, but there is no denying that the majority of the responsibility falls upon the shoulders of Curry.

That being said, the Warriors will be eagerly keeping an eye of Game 6 between the Memphis Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves. Given that both these teams have the ability to cause an upset, Curry would indeed be required to take charge from downtown, from the very front. Will Curry finally allow Bayless to eat his own words? Or will Bayless embrace his outrageous opinion once again? Remains to be seen.
