Skip Bayless has a jab at Lebron James
LeBron James has had an illustrious career made out of poster dunks, buzzer beaters and pretty applaud-worthy attacking prowess, yet his short-comings is what Skip Bayless has made a career out off. To say that Skip Bayless is LeBron’s biggest critic would be an understatement. Another episode unfolded before us today Skip took a dig at Lebron and comparing him with Kevin Durant, and how Durant is a much more favorable player. During a recent segment on Undisputed, Bayless spoke about every team wanting Kevin over LeBron.
Both of these Basketball legends have had a stressful year with Lebron not even making it to the playoffs and KD got swept by Jayson Tatum’s Boston Celtics in the first round itself. The Los Angeles Lakers star-studded team not making into the playoffs was and has been one of the biggest talking points in and around the world of NBA. With One of the All-Time Greats, Lebron James himself, and two future Hall of Famers in Anthony Davis and freshly traded, Russell Westbrook, the Lakers looked scary on paper, not so much on court.
Kevin Durant left the Golden State Warriors after 2 triumphant Rings in the NBA, looking to pair up with Kyrie Irving to have another chance at a Championship. He was a force to reckon with when he was with the Warriors, winning 2 Finals MVP’s while in San Francisco, being the spearhead along with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Unfortunately, his years at Brooklyn have been filled with disappointments, as he has not been able to grab even a conference Finals appearance.

Skip Bayless criticizing Lebron James is bread and butter for the NBA Community. Skip Bayless, who has basically made a career out of bashing Lebron James consistently, has yet another grievance against the big man. Despite James having a stellar resume to boast of, Skip believes Kevin Durant would be a better player than him, as he is more versatile.
During a recent segment on Undisputed, Bayless spoke about every General Manager wanting Kevin over LeBron.
“If you gave every GM the option of Kevin Durant or LeBron James just for next year. We’re talking about going into next year, regardless of whether he’s going to pass Kareem. This isn’t about box office, this is about winning basketball games. Every one of them, how many of their 30; they would all vote for Kevin.”
“He is four years younger than LeBron. He has played five fewer seasons because he missed a whole season because of his Achilles. Five fewer seasons, so he’s got much more tread on his tires, right. last year, even though he was nicked, he had a career high in scoring, a career high in rebounds, and a career high in assists. I’d say he’s coming off a career year.” Explained Skip Bayless.
Durant’s career year shows that he does have some tread left on the tires and could be in for a great season. He will have the opportunity to prove that he is the better player. With multiple speculations around his time at the Lakers, We’ve got to wait a few months to know whether the 4x Champ stays and gets another attempt for the Lakers’ 18th title or he gets traded.
The Lakers have a proud winning history, but that desire to always be in contention may have just backfired after the 2021-22 season that saw them miss the playoffs. It’s already the second time in four years since LeBron arrived that they failed to make it to the postseason, and Skip Bayless believes that they aren’t gonna make it next year too.
After leaving Golden State for the Nets in 2019, Durant attempted to gather his own squad and try to lead a championship run of his own. Irving and Durant joined the Nets during the summer of 2019, it’s been an era of disappointment and untapped potential thus far. The Big 3 of the Nets, consisting of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden played just 16 games together, making it hard to cash in fully on their names. Durant missed a quarter of this season due to a knee injury, Irving missed nearly two-thirds due to his refusal to get vaccinated, and Harden demanded a trade, one that brought back Ben Simmons, who still hasn’t played a game.
With both players not having a reliable team, the future looks bleak. However, there is no doubt that Durant is a top-10 scoring talent of all time because he has no comparison in terms of being a 6’10” sharpshooter with a wingspan that extends over 7 feet. In raw talent, Durant has a solid argument for being one of the most uniquely unstoppable players to ever play the game, however, he has been under massive amounts of criticism since leaving the Warriors and failing to make an impact.
The Lakers had a drastically poor record of 33-49 , as they move on from this nightmarish season , they will have to make plenty of moves to get back on track. As LeBron gets ready for the upcoming season, the team will have to give him more reinforcements to bring back the legacy of the Lakers. One thing that wont change is Skip Bayless, he will never fail to have a jab at LeBron anytime soon.
