“Slight jab at Kyrie!” – Social media BREWS theories on Luka Doncic claiming the Mavs miss Jalen Brunson ‘a lot’

The Dallas Mavericks have registered one of the most shocking mid-seasons collapses in the league. Standing almost out of Play-In contention, the Mavericks are also on a three-game losing streak with 42 losses in total. While fans still struggle to fathom what has happened since January, the Mavs continue to miss out on wins. The Dallas-based franchise was expected to be one of the dominant in the West as they made it to the conference finals last season.

Amidst everything that the Mavericks are going through as a franchise, their frontman Luka Doncic has been the target of all criticisms. Fans and critics haven’t been very warm to the Mavericks star lately. With home fans disregarding his stellar performances, Doncic is clearly under the spotlight for all kinds of attacks.

Speaking to the press ahead of the third last game of the season, Luka was asked about a former player. The Mavericks guard was asked whether he missed former Dallas player Jalen Brunson. “A lot. Amazing guy. Amazing player,” he said right off the bat. This response has social media brewing all kinds of theories about whether or not Luka was throwing shade at his current star teammate, Kyrie Irving. Since Kyrie’s arrival, the Mavericks have fallen to the eleventh place from being fourth in the West.

Is Luka Doncic throwing shade at Kyrie Irving?

With the stats and results going against expectations, pointing fingers within the dressing room is very likely. Especially after the arrival of a star player with an intention of helping Luka win games for the Mavericks. While Kyrie and Luka have combined to score a heap of points, that hasn’t resulted in wins. After the press interview ahead of playing the Sacramento Kings, Twitter is now speculating distaste between the two teammates.

While the Mavs are pretty much out of the Play-In, they aren’t completely out yet. However, their qualification depends on more than just themselves now. With Oklahoma City Thunder having just one more win than them, the Mavs need to win all three of their remaining games. Win all three while OKC loses all of their remaining games.

When asked about whether Luka and/or Kyrie are being shut down or not by the Mavericks management, the player replied saying in the negative. “I’m playing tomorrow. When there’s still chance, I’m gonna play so that’s not gonna happen yet.” While the fans have pretty much given up on the Mavericks, it will be interesting to see how the team performs with their slim chance of qualification.
