Steph Curry won the American Century Championship this past Sunday. The title win was capped off by an impressive hole-in-one, with the Chef draining long putts throughout the contest. Golden State Warrior’s sharpshooter took home the gold after acing a 152-yard par three.
Curry became one of the only seven players golfers to ever hit an 18-foot putt for an eagle on the final hole. He also became the second active athlete since 2000 to win the American Century Championship. His performance was so impressive that former athletes and fans questioned his future in golf. Fan favorite former NFL tight-end Rob Gronkowski took his thought to Twitter.
Gronkowski wondered if the 2-time NBA MVP could hold his own against professional golfers. He wrote on Twitter, “Could he(Stephen Curry) go pro in golf if he focused on golf like basketball?? Every golf shot I have seen by him has just been amazing. Hole in ones, draining long putts… what’s your thoughts??”
The NFL legend was not the only one impressed by the feat. As Curry made the winning putt, the crowd at the celebrity game erupted, chanting ‘MVP’ like it was an NBA Finals game.

Can Steph Curry hold his own against Pro-Golfers?

Steph Curry’s performance was impressive enough to make fans question the skill level of the professional basketball player. How will Curry do against actual golfers? Would he be able to compete in the PGA? Well, all those questions boil downs to if the Warriors’ star himself decides to switch sports completely.
As per the eye test, Curry is perfect for an amateur golfer. For context, the measurements and the terrain where these celebrity games and where the PGA tours take place are on entirely different levels of difficulty.
The league’s best shooter must get on a course prepared explicitly for a PGA tournament. The physical conditions and tee box yardage are vastly more complex. Although Curry might have hit two one-in-hole, the shot itself is not enough to quantify a golfer’s skill level.
However, if Curry decides to switch to golf after retirement, the road is pretty open. Given his body strength and fitness level, with the suitable trainers, it will be a seamless transition for the 35-year-old.
