“The greatest scorer ever was Michael Jordan,” Stephen A. Smith ignores Lebron James despite breaking NBA all scoring record

Stephen A. Smith crowns Michael Jordan the winner in the GOAT debate against LeBron James.

“The greatest scorer ever was Michael Jordan,” Stephen A. Smith ignores Lebron James despite breaking NBA all scoring record

Despite Lebron being the all time scoring leader, Stephen A. Smith still feels Jordan was a better scorer. Stephen A. Smith is right in terms of points per game as Michael Jordan averaged 30.1PPG which is first all time. Lebron is at 27.7 which is 5th all time. “Just because you don’t consider him the greatest scorer ever, doesn’t mean he isn’t one of the greatest players ever“, said Stephen A. Smith on first take. Stephen says that Lebron is still on his Mt Rushmore of basketball and deserves the celebration he had. “He is not only one of the greatest players in NBA history but also one of the greatest ambassadors and one of the greatest people“, said Stephen A. Smith.

Stephen A. Smith also mentioned the fact that the Lakers still lost the game to OKC. “The man (Lebron) did everything else, could y’all not have won the game,” he said. Anthony Davis had 13 points and was the Laker’s highest scorer that night after Lebron’s 38 and Westbrook’s 27. The Lakers lost the game due to bad free throw shooting as they shot 69% from the line to the Thunder’s 90%.

Stephen A. Smith has always regarded Michael Jordan over Lebron James throughout his First Take career. Although the recent record has changed the minds of a few NBA legends such as Paul Pierce who said it was an honor to matchup with the goat. Lebron James has had many memorable playoff battles against Paul Pierce who also used to regard Jordan over him.

As Stephen A said, the Lakers could not get the win despite Lebron breaking the record. The Los Angeles Lakers have lost 5 of their last 10 games and still have an overall record under .500. Lakers coach Darvin Ham said, “The focus was more about getting Bron the record than playing natural basketball.” Darvin Ham did congratulate and praise Lebron on the record, but was not happy with the way the team played.

The Lakers have made trades and finally got rid of Russell Westbrook. In a three team trade with the Jazz and the Timberwolves, the Lakers acquires D’Angelo Russell, Jared Vanderbilt and Malik Beasley. The Lakers have strengthened their bench and added a competent shooter in D’Angelo who is shooting 39% from 3 this season.

At the end of the day, basketball is a team sport and winning is the name of the game. Lebron James surely had a historic night, but for Lakers fans, the wins are all that matter. The Lakers are still far behind a playoff spot and with around 30 games left, it looks like their best shot at the postseason are the play-ins. Lebron will have to use this momentum from breaking the record to carry the Lakers to the postseason.
