“WHAAAAATTT?” Stephen A Smith goes bonkers over Kendrick Perkins’ Kyrie Irving trade proposal for LeBron James and Lakers

Kendrick Perkins has had his fair share of controversial takes and proposals over the years. His recent proposal continues the trend. Kendrick made quite a controversial statement by proposing that the Lakers should let go of Anthony Davis this off-season and make moves to acquire Kyrie Irving.
Kendrick in his statement seemed to overlook the past of LeBron and Kyrie. During their time together in the Cleveland Cavaliers, LeBron James and Kyrie Irving had released statements against each other in the media. The boiling beef between the two was in the public eye.

Is Kendrick Perkins’ take legit or absurd ?
Coming into the 2021-22 season, it was predicted that either Brooklyn Nets or LA Lakers will take the Championship title with quite a dominating fashion. The two teams had rosters which defined ‘super team’. Decked out with superstars, Nets and Lakers began their campaign. The Nets with its superstar trio of KD, Kyrie and James Harden had a good start as the top seed in the Eastern Conference. But with Kyrie refusing to play after the NBA vaccination rules, the Nets had KD and James Harden to rely on. James did not put up consistent performances and the load was levied on KD. The former finals MVP led the campaign for the Nets, only to face James Harden demanding a trade shortly afterwards.
KD continued to lead the team but injuries found their way to him shortly afterwards. The Nets lost their momentum and dropped to a position where they were scraping to make it to the Playoffs. Kyrie did return shortly before the playoffs, but the duo of KD and Kyrie failed to find the rhythm and got swept in the 1st round of playoffs against the Celtics. Lakers on the hand failed to gain the momentum from the start. Despite the roster comprising of superstars like LeBron, Anthony Davis, Russel Westbrook and Dwight Howard, the team failed to capitalize on each other’s talent and potential. The 2 pre-season championship favorites were knocked out early.
After the shocking failure from both the teams, it was pretty clear the two teams need to reconsider their rosters and bring together the right pieces if they wish to contend for the championship. Many NBA analysts had their suggestions, but none quite like Kendrick’s.
Kendrick suggested that Lakers’ should give up Anthony Davis and acquire Kyrie Irving in the post season. The former Cavs centre forgot the beef between the two during their time together in Cleveland Cavaliers.
Stephen A Smith, quite justifiably went bonkers after listening to Kendrick Perkins. He mocked Perkins by saying that Kendrick wanted to send LeBron to an asylum. He even went to say that Kyrie would come with better and more absurd excuses if he gets traded to the Lakers (referring to their past beef)
