NBA star Player Kyrie Irving will continue playing for the Brooklyn Nets in the upcoming 2022-2023 seasons. He is a vital cog in the Brooklyn Nets machine along with his teammate Kevin Durant. Sports analyst Stephen A. Smith is recently eyeing a solid comeback of Kyrie in the new season, which is lined up ahead. As he talked about it on the recent episode of ‘First Take.’

Stephen A. Smith said, “I got Kyrie Irving as one of my top league MVP candidates. I think Kyrie Irving gonna put on a show this year.” He added, “Everybody better brace themselves because the brother is playing for a new contract. He playing for a new contract. Listen, it matters 200 million-plus dollars, man. It matters now.” Smith concluded, “Listen, Bradley Beal got 200 million, Zach LaVine got 200 million… Because in the process of balling, he gotta convince folks that he gonna show up to work, which I believe he will. Past is the past. I’m looking forward. I got Kyrie Irving as a league MVP candidate.”

Kyrie Irving refused to vaccinate against COVID-19 and had to sit out for the first couple of months last season. He was only allowed to play in away games because of a New York City vaccine mandate. He ended up playing only 29 regular season games for the Brooklyn Nets, last season. Kyrie will be rearing to go this upcoming 2022-2023 season. As now it’s personal and his future in the league is at risk. As he is on the last year of his contract and has already lost a chance to get a maximum extension.

Kyrie Irving won an NBA championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 but never an MVP award. He is a seven-time All-Star and has a three-time All-NBA selection to his name. He won Rookie of the year after being first elected in the 2011 Draft class. With so many laurels already to his name, Stephen A. Smith backs him to win the league MVP this season. If Kyrie gives out an MVP performance, Brooklyn Nets can become a champion team this year. The Nets are set to take on New Orleans Pelicans in their season’s opening game on 20th October.
