Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry returned to the lineup against the Warriors’ archrival Phoenix Suns. Curry had his minutes restricted due to his shoulder injury, yet he ended up playing for over 30 minutes. The 8 x All-Star had missed the last 11 games due to his partially dislocated left shoulder. The Warriors lost the game to the Suns, despite Curry’s return to the lineup.
Initially, it was reported that Curry might miss months due to the injury, but his recovery ended up being a bit faster. On Friday, Curry went through a 5-on-5 drill and his playing decision against the Suns was decided at the last minute. Moreover, Steve Kerr earlier had updated that the All-Star player would make his return in the Warriors’ game against the San Antonio Spurs.
Unexpected by many, the Warriors have gone 6-5 since Curry has been out. Perhaps what was more unexpected was the 5 consecutive wins that the Warriors registered in Steph’s absence. The Warriors’ mostly relied on Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson for the offensive task. During this time Poole has averaged 27.9 points and shot 42.9 from the field.

The Warriors lost the 21st game in their 41 games in the season and are at the 8th spot in the Western Conference. Despite the poor performance of the defending champions, their hope to make the playoff is still alive, as they continue to push for a better record in the season.
