Klay Thompson had a tough start in the 23/24 NBA season. The Golden State Warriors, without injured Steph Curry and suspended Green, lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder, extending their losing streak to six games (6-7). In the match, Thompson only made one shot out of 10 attempts, scoring just five points. Meanwhile, Johnathan Kuminga, in his first start of the season, emerged as the Warriors’ standout player.

This season, Klay’s performance has dropped compared to the previous one, averaging 13.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists, a significant decline from his previous averages of 21.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists. The Warriors need Klay to return to his former self to stay competitive in the challenging Western Conference.

Following the Warriors’ fifth consecutive loss on Thursday, Steve Kerr emphatically stressed the need for patience with the former All-Star. Additionally, he highlighted that the team must actively seek ways to get Thompson more open on the perimeter, ultimately positioning him for a breakthrough from his current slump.

Just to be patient. They just kept him really smothered. He was trying to get his own shot. Took a lot of tough ones out of frustration. He’s just trying to get himself going. We gotta try and get him some cleaner looks.

Thompson becomes a free agent next summer, and the Golden State Warriors are watching his performance this season to decide on a possible extension. However, his recent struggles are hurting the team’s offense, emphasizing the need for him to improve soon.

Coach Kerr said:

He definitely took it too far. Draymond was wrong. He knows that. It's a bad look. The five games is deserved, and we move forward.

Draymond Green got a five-game suspension, as stated by the NBA, for grabbing Rudy Gobert’s neck during a game. This incident added to the Warriors’ struggles, leading to their fifth consecutive loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Green will be back on November 28th when the Warriors play against the Sacramento Kings.
