The Phoenix Suns were dealt a major blow after Kevin Durant, their newest addition, suffered an ankle injury before a game. Fans were left wondering when the 2x Finals MVP would return and how it would affect the Suns’ playoff aspirations. After much speculation, NBA insider Shams Charania announced that Durant’s likely return date is on the horizon.

Durant was traded to the Suns after a series of controversies during his time in Brooklyn. Now in Phoenix, he can focus solely on basketball without any distractions. The Suns have a tough road ahead in the highly competitive Western Conference, but with Durant on their side, they have a fighting chance.

“Phoenix Suns’ 13-time All-Star Kevin Durant (sprained ankle) is progressing toward a potential return to action on Wednesday vs. Minnesota Timberwolves, barring any setback, league sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. A targeted home return of Wednesday vs. Minnesota will give Durant and the Suns seven final regular season games to prepare for the playoffs,” reported Shams. “Phoenix currently holds the fourth seed in the West, just two games ahead of the No. 7-seeded T’Wolves.”

Durant’s presence on the Suns team has already been strongly felt, even though he has only played in three games so far. Fans and analysts are eagerly anticipating his return, expecting it to bring a positive impact to the team’s NBA finals aspirations.

Phoenix Suns’ Playoff Hopes Hinge on Depth Behind Top Stars Durant, Booker, and Paul

The Phoenix Suns are currently ranked in the top 5 of the Western Conference, with much credit due to the impressive performances of their star players Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Chris Paul. However, as the team sets its sights on a championship title, concerns have arisen regarding their overall depth and whether they have the necessary depth to compete at the highest level.

According to CBS Sports’ Michael Kaskey-Blomain, the Suns’ lack of depth could be a major concern if any of their key players are forced to miss extended periods of time. With a thin rotation outside of their top four, the Suns could struggle to keep up with deeper teams in the postseason.

While doubts exist about the Phoenix Suns’ depth, the team’s top players – Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Chris Paul – possess incredible talent. This trio is one of the league’s most dominant, and the Suns’ backup options, such as Deandre Ayton, are capable of alleviating some of the pressure.

Despite these concerns, the Suns remain a force to be reckoned with, and their star-studded lineup should be enough to carry them through some tough playoff matchups. It remains to be seen whether their lack of depth will ultimately be their undoing.
