The game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks was the one the NBA fans have been waiting for years. It was a game between the legend LeBron James and his prodigy Luka Doncic. Two superstars went against each other in a neck-to-neck fight as the game went to the 2nd overtime. What stood out were the two back-to-back game-tying equalizers from Doncic.
Doncic’s pair of clutch 3-pointers highlighted his 56th career triple-double. Luka scored 35 points, had 14 rebounds, and dropped 13 dimes. Christian Wood also contributed 24 points and 14 rebounds. The Mavericks defeated the Lakers for the fourth time in a row. Dallas’ Tim Hardaway Jr. finished with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Moreover, Spencer Dinwiddie scored twice in a final 6-0 run to seal the victory in double overtime.
With 9.4 seconds left on the clock in the 4th quarter, Doncic was defended by Dennis Schroder. The Slovenian star took the inbound pass on the top of the key. Doncic dribbled right and made a crossover against his defender outside the three-point line and with a step back made a three-point shot over Dennis making it 101-101. He made another shot at the end of the first overtime to force second overtime against the Lakers.

Fans are in awe of Luka Doncic as he forces overtime against the Lakers
Luka has been outstanding this season so far and he was nothing short of that tonight. Fans were amazed by the shots that Doncic took and even the game in the 4th and the 1st overtime Thrilled by his shots, one of the fans on Twitter wrote, “Luka is doing all this against the Lakers and the refs. I’m sorry this is greatness we’re witnessing.” Alluding to the scoring machine that Doncic is. Another fan wrote, “Luka will put Lebron’s legacy to the ground.” Here are some more reactions from the fans on Twitter.
James had 24 points, 16 rebounds, and nine assists for the Lakers, who dropped their second consecutive game following a five-game winning streak. Superstar Russell Westbrook had a season-high 28 points. Even though Los Angeles battled back from a 19-point deficit in regulation to the point of an unexpected victory, they were unable to match Doncic’s theatrical flair.
While Anthony Davis, Lonnie Walker, Austin Reaves, and Patrick Beverley were still absent, James returned from a one-game layoff with a painful left ankle and generally looked sharp. Due to the injuries, coach Darvin Ham was forced to play Max Christie, a rookie second-round pick, in his second career game, using his 23rd different starting rotation in 42 games this season.
