LeBron James finally broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar‘s all-time scoring record, and the entire basketball world celebrated with the King. He needed 36 points to break Captain’s record and scored 38 in the Crypto.com arena that night. Golf legend Tiger Woods still can’t believe that the Los Angeles Lakers star has finally broken the nearly 40-year-old basketball record. While speaking to the media, Woods admitted that he didn’t think Kareem’s record would ever be broken.

When Woods returned to the PGA Tour, a reporter asked him about James’ feat. He said that while watching Kareem set that record, he never thought anyone could surpass it. “The durability, the consistency, and longevity. I never thought…that record would ever be surpassed.” Woods said. The renowned golfer, like many others, did not believe that Kareem’s mountain of points after overtaking Wilt Chamberlain would ever be touched.

However, to James’ credit, he has oozed consistency and has taken immense care of his body. The 11x PGA Player of the Year added that what James has been doing is unprecedented. “The amount of minutes he’s playing? No one’s ever done that at that age,” he added. Woods has previously shown appreciation for the four-time NBA champion and his greatness. The amount of miles he has on his feet and the amount of minutes he has played in basketball is unprecedented and speaks of his greatness.

Will LeBron James play against the Pelicans?

Every game the Lakers lose brings them closer to missing the play-in tournament for the second season in a row. The Lakers, who are still in the 13th spot in the Western Conference, have made solid mid-season moves by bringing in promising players. However, their concerns were aggravated by LeBron James‘ injury. He’s been struggling with a foot injury for almost the entire season. The good news is that he might play against the New Orleans Pelicans in the Lakers’ next game. According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, “Darvin Ham says “in all likelihood” LeBron James should play Wednesday in the Lakers final game before the All-Star break.”

In James’ absence, the Lakers have a 1-2 record since he broke the all-time scoring record. Their lone victory came against the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors. While they are only a few games behind the play-in tournament berth, it is worth noting that the West is currently incredibly tight. If the Lakers continue to drop games, there is a chance that they might be out of the postseason picture once again.
