Kristaps Porziņģis ready to fight Joe Ingles

Joe Ingles is not known to be one of those players to get hot-headed on the basketball floor, and neither is Kristaps Porzingis. However, the two-star players almost got into an altercation in the 1st quarter of the game between the Washington Wizards and Milwaukee Bucks. The two teams of the Eastern Conference were playing in Fiserv Forum, the homecourt for the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks were playing without their top 3 stars in the team with different injuries and illness-related issues.

With 3.08 minutes left in the 1st quarter, Ingles missed a three-point shot from the top of the key. Rui Hachimura grabbed the rebound and as he was dribbling the ball down the floor, Porzingis was ready at his position to receive the pass. Ingles, who was defending Porzingis suddenly pushed him onto the floor. The Wizards’ big man was obviously upset with the play as he got off the floor to square things with Joe Ingles.

The referee and the Bucks officials quickly got in between the players to separate both before they could get physical and square up against each other. In most parts of the altercation, Porzingis was seen smiling and exchanging words with Ingles, the former Utah Jazz star. Despite getting into only heated conversation, the official quickly handed both players double technicals.

While Milwaukee Bucks remain one of the top teams in the league, the Washington Wizards came into the game with a purpose. Both the teams were playing without their key players. With Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton out of Milwaukee’s line, the Wizards had a solid chance against them. Bradley Beal missed the game with hamstring tightness. The Wizards beat the Bucks 118-95 in four quarters.

Giannis and Middleton both were ruled out of the Sunday game due to knee injuries, while two other stars Holiday and Hill were out with non-covid illnesses. Before being out with the injury, the Greek Freak was averaging 32.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per contest in 30 games. He was also one of the top runners in the MVP conversation.

Leading the Wizards’ offense, Hachimura and Porzingis each scored 26 and 22 points. Kyle Kuzma had an impressive game for himself scoring a triple-double. He had 10 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists. Six of the Wizards players scored in double digits. In absence of Giannis and Middleton, Bobby Portis led the Bucks with 19 points. Although 6 players from the Bucks’ roster scored in double-digits, none of them even touched the 20-point mark. Joe Ingles ended the game without scoring any points in 17 minutes.
