Kyrie Irving is one of the best ball-handling point guards in league history. The Dallas Mavericks superstar has the uncanny knack of getting to the basket by splitting defenses. However, in their game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Irving had to remind the opposing players.

Irving does trash talk now and then. On a drive to the basket, Irving’s shot was blocked by the Grizzlies Xavier Tillman. After the block, Tillman let out a taunt after blocking Irving by saying:

“Get that sh*t out of here!”

Irving responded by throwing some nice words in Tillman’s way. He said;

Irving ensured Tillman got a reminder of who he was and what he had accomplished. Both of them were smiling during that banter.

Time and again fans have seen Kyrie Irving’s basketball skills and trash-talking on full display. Especially when he is completely bamboozling opposition players. Irving talked smack in Tillman’s face to remind him of that.

Irving and the Mavericks ended up on the losing side of the matchup with a 103-120 scoreline. Irving’s team-leading 33 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals were not enough to hold the Grizzlies at bay. Tillman contributed 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks off the bench for the Grizzlies.

Kyrie Irving and a history of talking

Kyrie Irving has played in the league for 13 seasons. Other than his otherworldly basketball skills, Irving has been known to be highly opinionated. Trash talk aside, what baffled people across the world was his conspiracy theories. Ranging from the ‘earth is flat’ to who killed former US President John F. Kennedy.

His opinion about the COVID-19 vaccine drew a lot of flak from the basketball world. His promotion of an Antisemitic movie drew a lot of retaliation from the Jewish communities. But his good deeds have not gone unnoticed. Donating $1.5 million to pay for WNBA players, who opted out of playing during the pandemic was one of his great gestures.

Irving has moved on since from all this. Now focusing solely on his basketball career, he had to remind Tillman who he was, with some choice words.
