Bill Russell laughing on Shaquille O'Neal's dunk

Shaquille O’Neal is arguably one of the funniest players in basketball. With his dance moves, his hand-on-waist free throws, and clowning other NBA players, he is a master at making and poking fun on and off the court. However, what he did in the 2006 All-Star game was nothing short of hilarious, that even had basketball legend Bill Russell in hysterics.

As it happened, Shaq was on the free throw line, all serious with the ball, while the players waited for him to miss the free throw. However, the four-time NBA champion had some other plans. The big man took the habitual dribble on the free throw line, glanced up, and threw the ball off the backboard. While the other players froze, he grabbed the rebound and slammed in a massive vintage Shaq dunk. However, because the ball did not hit the ring, the basket did not count.

Former Boston Celtics legend and 5x league MVP, who was sitting courtside, burst into uncontrolled laughter as he saw the former superstar make a comical play. Of course, the play was illegal, but the seriousness with which Shaq made the dunk could have made anyone on the court laugh. The game was full of other superstars like Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, LeBron James, and others, with James taking home the MVP honors.

Shaquille O’Neal and Kareem Abdul Jabbar finally make amends on live television

Shaquille O’Neal and Kareem Abdul Jabbar

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar recently talked to Shaquille O’Neal and addressed the issue that the TNT host might have had with him over the years. Shaq stated that he was one of the league’s most dominant big men and wanted recognition from the legend himself, but it never came his way. Kareem finally spoke to the Lakers legend after LeBron James broke his scoring record.

Hey, I want to tell Shaq, I asked for you specifically this evening because you felt that I was shaming you or ignoring you…the way you crushed all the centers in the league for a couple of years there. So, I’m on your side, Shaq, don’t ever let anybody tell you anything different,” Kareem said

An emotional Shaq said that he had never had any issues with him and all he wanted to do was to impress him over the years. “Hey, listen, you not speaking to me was the best thing to happen to my career because all I wanted to do was impress you, sir,” Shaq said. “I will never ever have beef with the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. You will never have to worry about that,” he added.
