Ja Morant has had a rough start to 2023 and this leaked video of him enjoying a lap dance at a strip club has not made things any better. However, former NBA player Stephen Jackson weighed in on the situation by calling out hypocrites for criticizing Ja. “80% of us would have been in the media or in some kind of jam if we had social media“, said Stephen Jackson. The former NBA champion pointed out how privileged his colleagues were to ‘get away’ with what Ja is going through right now.

All of us was partying, going to strip clubs and doing the same thing Ja was doing, and ten times worse,” added Stephen Jackson. Jackson played in the NBA in the 2000s when social media was less impactful than now, and players were never afraid of partying and enjoying their life. People were up in arms at Ja Morant mainly because he wielded a gun. Therefore Jackson feels his mere presence at a strip club is not an issue.

Anybody in my era be quite dawg, we would all be in trouble if we played in this clout chasing social media era,” concluded Jackson in his video uploaded to Twitter. Jackson is not the only former player in support of Morant as former Washington Wizards all-star Gilbert Arenas also backed him up. Arenas claims Ja is a philanthropist for donating $50k to a strip club. Ja Morant has not said anything from his side since the video’s release, but the NBA community has said their piece.

Ja Morant has missed the last five games for the Memphis Grizzlies, 3 of them due to personal reasons. Morant is reportedly seeking help for his violent outbursts, which were brought to light during his allegations of beating up an a17-year old kid. Morant, however, did play a few NBA games after that incident, but the video of him with a gun was the most significant dent to his image.

NBA players caught with guns have never been dealt with lightly. Morant is suspected of having brought a gun on an NBA chartered plane which puts him in hot waters as that is a lengthy suspension. Ja, however, has new allegations about him coming from a girl’s high school. His sister Jamie Morant was involved in a scuffle during a volleyball game, and Ja was present there. Ja has been accused of intimidation and harassment by the family of the girl his sister fought with.

Ja’s friend slapped a phone out of a student’s hand and reportedly yelled at kids that he would “beat they a**.” Ja has frequently been criticized for the crew he roams around with; this is another example. Stephen Jackson has a valid point regarding former NBA players being the same as Ja, but his violent behavior is not excusable. There has yet to be an update on Ja’s return, and the Memphis Grizzlies hope he can be back at least by the NBA playoffs.
