“Lost $500 Million” Wilt Chamberlain lost insane money due to a funeral
Wilt Chamberlain at one point was the greatest player that had ever lived to perform on NBA courts. He was a monstrous phenomenon that dominated games everyday on offense and defense. He was the type of player who scored 50 points on a nightly basis. The “Stilt” was pure entertainment for the fans.
Chamberlain’s excellence earned his a lot of respect and attention. He averaged a career of 30.1 point, 22.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assist per game. This stat line is very rare to find but was common in terms of rebounding as the league’s style of playing had centers as a main focal point.
His insane ability to hover over his opponents and score within the paint eventually helped him become top five scorers of all time. Having achieved this career feature without the three-point line was praised. Wilt infamously scored 100 points in a game but there no evidence to it besides a picture of him holding a white sheet with the score written on it.
Wilt Chamberlain almost lost $500 million after death of Sixers owner
Wilt Chamberlain was well known for his career with the Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers. His run-ins with Bill Russell were legendary. But unlike Russell, the former Warriors never won a title making him the greatest player with a ring. People believes that his efforts were “empty stats.”
But his talent caught the interests of then owner Ike Richman. The owner’s relationship with Chamberlain was tight and the two were said to had a father-son type of a bond. Wilt was sort of the favorite child of Richman and got paid very well. The NBA athlete would have been one of the richest ones today if it was not for Richman’s death.
Before his passing, the owner offered Wilt Chamberlain a 25% stake in his $2.4 Billion worth company. The estimate earning in Wilt’s investment would have bought him $500 million or more in return. But unfortunately, Ike’s business partner did not want to continue to deal with Chamberlain and terminated their agreement.
