“WOW!” Draymond Green hilariously trolls Dillon Brooks while speaking about the Kyrie Irving jersey swap incident
Draymond Green laughs at Dillon Brooks getting snubbed by Kyrie Irving in a jersey swap attempt.
Draymond Green is not a fan of Dillon Brooks. The Golden State Warriors star has been vocal about his dislike for the Memphis Grizzlies forward, who has been involved in several altercations with Green and his teammates this season. So when Green saw a video of Brooks getting snubbed by Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving after a jersey swap attempt, he could not help but laugh.
The incident happened on Monday night after the Grizzlies defeated the Mavericks 112-108. Brooks, who scored 22 points and played tough defense on Irving, approached him after the game and offered his jersey. Irving accepted it and gave his own jersey to Brooks. But when Brooks tried to hand over his jersey to Irving, the Mavericks star walked away without taking it.
The awkward exchange was captured on video and went viral on social media. Many NBA fans mocked Brooks for being rejected by Irving, who had 25 points and nine assists in the loss. Green was one of them. On his podcast “The Draymond Green Show”, he reacted to the video with a cackle and a sarcastic comment.
“This is called ~P R O D U C I N G~,” he said, implying that Brooks was trying to get some clout by swapping jerseys with Irving. Green’s producer, Jackson Safon, asked him if he had any sympathy for Brooks. “Nope,” Green said bluntly. Green then pretended to be shocked by what happened. “Wow! That’s crazy! He didn’t take his jersey? Wow!,” he exclaimed.
Draymond Green’s reaction was not surprising, given his history with Brooks. The two have been feuding since last year’s playoffs when they faced each other in the Western Conference semifinals. Brooks said that he did not like Green at all, while Green predicted that the Grizzlies would never win a championship with him on their roster.
Even Klay Thompson, who usually stays away from trash talk, chimed in on their rivalry. He said that nobody would ever talk about Brooks again when he retires. Irving also addressed the jersey swap snub after the game. He said that it was not intentional and that he would probably get it next time. “I saw that after the game. I’ll probably get it next time”, he said. “Probably next time. Not this time. I was really onto the next thing, thought process-wise.” Brooks has not responded to Irving or Green’s comments yet.
Why Dillon Brooks is one of the most hated players in the NBA?
Dillon Brooks may have earned some respect from Kyrie Irving for his performance on Monday night, but he has also earned a lot of hate from other NBA players and fans for his antics throughout this season.
Brooks has been involved in several scuffles, trash-talk sessions, and controversial plays this year. He has also been accused of being dirty, annoying, and overrated by many people.
Some of his notable incidents include: Hurting a cameraman with an elbow during a game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Getting into a heated argument with LeBron James after fouling him hard, Taunting Stephen Curry after making a three-pointer, Getting ejected for two technical fouls against the Phoenix Suns, Getting fined $25,000 for hitting Justin Anderson in the face, Getting into a shoving match with DeMarcus Cousins and Getting into a verbal exchange with Luka Doncic
Brooks has defended his style of play as being competitive and passionate. He has also said that he does not care about what other people think of him.
“I don’t care about Dillon Brooks”, Thompson told The Commercial Appeal’s Evan Barnes after Golden State’s loss to Memphis on Saturday. “When he retires, I don’t think anyone will ever talk about Dillon Brooks again. I promise you. It’s sweet right now, but wait 10 years.”
Brooks may have some fans in Memphis, where he has been a solid role player since his rookie season. He is averaging 14.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game this season. He is also one of their best defenders and leaders.
But outside of Memphis, Brooks is widely regarded as one of the most hated players in the NBA today. He may need to tone down his behavior if he wants to change that perception – or at least get more jerseys from other stars.
