The Denver Nuggets are soaring through the first round in the West. They’re up 3-0 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, having their star guard, Jamal Murray finally back. The Nuggets finished as the first seed in the West, playing against the team out of the Play-In tournament. By the looks of it, Denver seems very strong going forward this postseason.
Timberwolves on the other hand haven’t had much luck in the postseason in the past, and so it seems. Minnesota never went past the first round of the playoffs, with Karl Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards in the lineup. The team struggled yet again this year to make it to the playoffs. Currently, down 0-3, the series seems to be pretty much over, though one of the players doesn’t believe so.
Out of all the Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards has been doing most of the work. Anthony Edwards is averaging 31 points and four assists a game versus the Nuggets. Anthony scored 41 points in Game 2, followed by a 36-point performance in Game 3. Despite these amazing efforts, the Wolves fell short against Denver in the last two games. Recently, Edwards had some bold statements to say about the series going forward.
Not backing down, Anthony promises his fans that the series is not over yet. Playing against the former MVP’s team which is fully stacked with scorers like Murray and Michael Porter Jr., it wouldn’t be easy to make a comeback. Though even this wouldn’t let Edwards give up so easily. Going into Game 4, scheduled for Sunday, Edwards will give his all to avoid a sweep in the first round.
Anthony Edwards gets a reality check from the fans
Following his words regarding the series not being over, fans on Twitter let Edwards know that a comeback from the Wolves’ current situation is impossible. Edwards gave his word to his fans, though only time will tell if he and his team will be able to fulfil it. But the Twitter comments showed no mercy to Edwards, predicting a sure sweep by the Nuggets.
The Nuggets are yet to win a championship under the two-time MVP, Nikola Jokic. With their young stars showcasing their skills every game, the postseason can very much fall in the favor of Denver. Do you think the Timberwolves will avoid a sweep? Let us know in the comments.
