WATCH: Zion Williamson plays reverse roles with a reporter during the Pelicans’ post-game press conference

Zion Williamson during the press conference

Zion Williamson put on weight while recovering from a fractured right foot that kept him out of action the whole previous season. Williamson is one of the best offensive players in the NBA today but his defense is a serious weakness that prevents him from reaching his full potential. He was recently questioned about this following a game against the Houston Rockets.

Star player Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans has all the qualities to become a Hall of Famer. As one of the most intriguing young players in the NBA, Zion is unstoppable offensively when he’s going to the rim. On the court, very few people have the strength and speed to stop him from doing everything he wants. However, defense is a different matter and Zion will need some time to figure out how to play defense in the NBA. For the majority of young players entering the NBA, there is a learning curve on that end of the floor.

In the post-game presser after the Pelicans versus Rockets matchup, Zion Williamson took on a few questions after his dominant outing in the win. When a reporter asked: “How would u rate your defense tonight?”, Zion hilariously replied: “You tell me man… How would you rate my defensive night?” The Pelicans star then told him to be upright and honest with his answer. When the reporter graded him B-, Zion was glad to hear it and then said: “I can accept that… I appreciate your honesty.” This shows how humble Zion is on the other side and how much he has to improve his defense.

Zion Williamson steers the Pelicans to a win over the Rockets

The New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Houston Rockets 119-106 on Saturday night thanks to Zion Williamson‘s 26 points and Brandon Ingram’s six points of his 20 during a 13-0 surge in the final two minutes. The Pelicans had an 18-point lead at one point in the third quarter before falling eight points behind early in the fourth. Jose Alvarado scored eight of his 12 points in the game’s decisive fourth quarter adding to his four assists and three steals in the final 11 minutes. For the Pelicans, Larry Nance Jr. had 22 and 9 rebounds to add to the scoresheet.

Jalen Green led Houston with 33 points followed by Kevin Porter Jr. with 23 points and Eric Gordon with 15. The Pelicans scored 32 points as a result of the Rockets’ 26 turnovers. Green scored 30 points for the third time this season but Houston has dropped nine of its previous ten games away from home before beginning a five-game homestand. With 11 seconds managed to remain in the game, Porter and Alvarado were both ejected after Porter objected to Alvarado swiping the ball in the closing seconds.

Is Zion Williamson going to be an All-Star this season?

The rejuvenated Zion Williamson is out to quiet his doubters. The star of the New Orleans Pelicans was injured despite being selected first overall in the 2019 NBA Draft. Williamson is said to be in excellent shape right now and is as motivated as ever. In 61 games during his most recent active season, Williamson averaged 27 points while shooting 61.1% from the field. Now that he has overcome his struggles with himself on a physical and mental level, Williamson is ready to have a breakout season.

The big man, who turned 22 in July has experienced injury issues each of the past three years. However, the youngblood appears to be in much better form now and might be a real contender for a bounce-back season. He is listed at 6-foot-6 and 284 pounds, which is perhaps too much weight for his stature, but the sky is the limit for Williamson who was an All-Star in just his second season, and the Pelicans might pose a significant danger in the Western Conference if he can remain healthy.
