“LeBron said the same thing and the Cavs gave him 37-year-old Shaq” – Giannis Antetokounmpo’s successful BLACKMAIL and Damian Lillard trade has fans recalling Cleveland’s horrific support for LeBron James

Damian Lillard‘s trade saga has finally come to an end. Lillard has been traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. Prior to the trade, Lillard had made it clear that he did not want to play in Portland any longer, which is what led him to be sent to the Bucks to pair up with Giannis Antetokounmpo. Giannis had actually issued an ultimatum of his own.
He’d said that if the Bucks didn’t make any moves that proved they were serious about winning, he would leave. Apparently the ultimatum paid off, since the Bucks landed Lillard. LeBron James tried doing something similar in 2009 when he told the Cleveland Cavaliers that he wanted help in Cleveland. The returns however were less than spectacular for James considering that he got a 37-year old Shaquille O’Neal who was only a year away from retirement.
While Antetokounmpo and James made the same requests, the outcomes were vastly different.
Antetokounmpo has landed himself a teammate who is still in his rime and is still extremely efficient and deadly. Lillard is by no means at the fag end of his career like O’Neal in Cleveland. This trade was the best possible outcome for the Bucks fans and they will be excited to see how the team plays once the regular season starts.
Fans recall how LeBron James was treated when he issued his ultimatum
Fans on social media had a good time comparing the treatment Giannis Antetokounmpo got to the treatment LeBron James got when they issued their ultimatums.
The reactions of fans varied from praising James to trying to make things work with Shaq, to critiquing the Cavaliers front office and GM Dan Gilbert and even to questioning whether Dame was really in his prime. Here are a few of them:
Hopefully, Lillard can help the Bucks win another championship so that the same types of comments aren’t made about him a few years later. The Bucks future does look bright at the present though, and Bucks fans will be immensely happy with their organization for pulling off a trade like this.
