“Kyrie Irving is a superstar not Dame” Skip Bayless takes a jab at 6-time NBA all-star Damian Lillard after Taylor Rooks controversial claim

The Kyrie Irving vs Damian Lillard debate was once again trending on Twitter after famous NBA commentator and sports columnist Skip Bayless claimed that while Kyrie Irving is a superstar , Damian Lillard isn’t one . His remark came hours after a clip from an Interview taken by Taylor Rooks with Jayson Tatum went viral , after she too claimed Damian isnt a superstar at the moment

In a recent interview with Jayson Tatum, Taylor Rooks controversially claimed that while Kyrie Irving is a superstar and that Damian Lillard isn’t. A lot fans took to twitter to express their disagreement on the take, while most fans disagreed a few of them agreed to her statements as well most significant of them being Skip Bayless

Kyrie Irving and Damien Lillard have had dramatically different professional paths. Despite the fact that both were All-Stars since their sophomore years, their teams were in quite different positions when they were picked. Irving was playing for one of the league’s weakest teams, but Lillard was on a playoff team in the West and had an All-Star other than himself to carry the club when he couldn’t.

Despite the fact that both guards are about the same age (Lillard is 28 and Kyrie is 26) and share many of the same strengths and weaknesses, Lillard is more of a volume scorer than Irving and has to carry a heavier offensive load than Kyrie for the majority of their careers, which is evident in their shooting percentages. He typically logs more game miles, plays faster, and poses a greater transition threat than Kyrie Irving.

Fans’ reaction to Taylor and Bayless’ remarks

Needless to say Bayless and Rooks found them at the receiving end of fans’ fury while some even supported their remarks , they generally received criticism. Skip Bayless had previously commented on the debate , the year prior where he expressed shock and anger on Kyrie not making it to the 75^th anniversary team , he said “What offended me is that Damian Lillard made this list. Give me a choice between Kyrie Irving and Dame, I’m taking Kyrie any day or night.”

Both of them are unquestionably clutch players with memorable postseason game-winning shots; Kyrie’s game-winning step-back jumper against Steph in the 2016 NBA Finals is akin to Lillard’s shot that eliminated the Rockets in the first round of the 2014 playoffs.
