Lakers fans were outraged on Monday night when they heard that their franchise has offered the coaching staff position to NBA veteran Kendrick Perkins after firing head coach Frank Vogel.
Recently Kendrick Perkins shocked the world when he revealed that Los Angeles Lakers have offered him the post of assistant coach. The Lakers management decides to end their terms with head coach Frank Vogel after the disastrous NBA season and they have already started to look for a new coach who will bring the franchise back to its glory. Well, it seems in this process of recruiting a new coach one letter mistakenly arrived at Perkins.
KP recently appeared on the latest episode of ESPN’s First Take, where the discussion was going on regarding who will be the next coach of the Lakers and Analyst Perkins didn’t hold back and revealed why the LA Lakers want to hire him. He said, “Who offered me a coaching job this season? The Lakers!”
Later Perkins added, “The Lakers offered me an assistant coaching job. You know why? Because they wanted me to come in and be that guy that could have Frank Vogel’s back but be respected by the guys in the locker room so that he could hold them accountable. Like Udonis Haslem is doing somewhat on the Miami team.”

Is Kendrick Perkins qualified enough to become the Lakers coach?
It’s sure that Perkins was trying to joke about the Lakers’ current situation and there is no doubt that he doesn’t have the qualifications to become the coach. During his whole NBA career, he had 4219 points which are just 190 points extra than that of Wilt Chamberlain who registered it in a single season. Even when he won the championship with the Celtics, he averaged 6.9 points with 25 minutes in the games.
Moreover, even if Kendrick Perkins gets selected as the coach for the Lakers, we all know LeBron James will not hear his suggestion as no one likes to take orders from their juniors. Although this was just a joke by Perkins where NBA fans didn’t hold back to give their honest opinion regarding his outlandish statement
