Shannon Sharpe had some words of criticism for Russell Westbrook after his performance against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday. Sharpe took to Twitter to express his frustration after an ‘Utterly Embarrassing‘ play by Westbrook.
Shannon Sharpe was talking about a play that was very critical to the game. Towards the end of the game, with 2:23 remaining in the game, Russell Westbrook had possession of the ball. He went ahead with a full head of steam into the open driving lane to finish at the rim. He tried to do what the fans usually mock by calling it a ‘dunk-layup‘. Westbrook missed the layup even though it wasn’t at all contested. The Lakers were trailing 97-100 at the time, and those two points could have made a big difference.
The Los Angeles Lakers were handed their sixth defeat in the last seven games of this season. This time they fell to the 4th seeded Memphis Grizzlies in a road loss. The Lakers are currently at the 7th spot in the Western Conference, carrying a record of 17-19 for the season.

The Grizzlies on the other hand are 4th in the Western Conference, with an impressive 22-14 record. Ja Morant led the Grizzlies with 41 points and 10 rebounds. Grizzlies also got valuable contributions from Desmond Bane, who scored 20 points and made the game-tying 3-pointer.
The Lakers were once leading by 14 points in the third quarter. Grizzlies then went on 17-3 run when Bane tied the game at 83 apiece with a 3-pointer. The Lakers regained the lead shortly. The Grizzlies captured their first lead of the game since the first half when Tyus Jones made a floater, giving them a one-point lead. The Grizzlies then sailed through with the game.

Russell Westbrook’s disappointing performance
Russell Westbrook continues his up-and-down season with the Lakers. Westbrook scored a triple-double but went only 7-16 from the field. His performances have been inconsistent as there have been games where he has shot 50% from the field and games where he shot 20%. His high rate of unforced turnovers remains another big issue for the Lakers.
Westbrook is currently averaging 19.8 points per game, 8 rebounds per game and 8.2 assists per game. he is also averaging 4.7 turnovers per game.
