Novak Djokovic and Kyrie Irving

Former NBA champion and Nets guard Kyrie Irving made his season debut against Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night, previously he was not allowed to play in NBA for Brooklyn Nets after he decided not to take the Covid vaccine and due to a New York State law, that didn’t allow a non-vaccinated person to enter in the stadium of more than 10,000 crowd in New York City.

But apparently, when Nets felt shorthanded on players due to injuries and players going into Covid Healthy and Safety protocols they overturn their decision and allowed Kyrie Irving to play in the road games for Brooklyn Nets. This decision by Nets was not so welcomed by Former MVP and NBA Hall of Fame Charles Barkley.

During a recent TNT episode, Charles Barkley criticized Nets management for allowing Irving to only play in road games. The Suns’ legend discussed the difficulties and sacrifices players face to win the game and according to him, it was unfair for Irving being a part-timer in the games for the Nets.

“When you’re on a team, you gotta make sacrifices for the team to win. Listen, if you wanna make a political point, which is silly and stupid, and not get vaccinated that is fine. But to only play in road games, I don’t think it’s fair to the game, but more importantly, I think it’s not fair to the team,” Barkley said.

Barkley said, “Shout out to Australia. Shout out to Australia, who said Novak Djokovic, who’s in the conversation with Nadal and Federer and Pete Sampras.”

Further, he added, “That’s the greatest tennis players ever. Like ‘no, you just can’t come here and play tennis, we have very strict rules’. They have probably the lowest COVID-related stuff in the world. They’re like, ‘no you just can’t come here for two weeks and win millions of dollars playing tennis’. Shout out to them for sending.”

Novak Djokovic’s visa was canceled after his standoff with the officials at the Melbourne airport. He was unable to provide sufficient documents regarding his medical reports at the border control. Former Australian Champion has legally challenged the decision for not allowing him to enter Australia. It will be a big blow to his career if he is not able to participate in the Grand Slam.
