“The MOMENT he might’ve passed LeBron, Giannis passed him” Kevin Durant tangled in a heated Twitter exchange with analyst Nick Wright over ‘2nd in the NBA’ comments
Kevin Durant and Nick Wright
Kevin Durant once again storms social media battling it out with close followers of the league. A short back story, The Brooklyn Nets went up against the Milwaukee Bucks losing to them in the clutch 120-119. The reason why Durant got mocked was that this was the second time he missed a game-winning shot at the end of the fourth quarter.
Giannis Antetokounmpo dominated the entire game, literally, and concluded with a monstrous night of 44 points, 14 rebounds, and 6 assists. He shot 66.7% from the field making 14 on 21 attempts to become the franchise’s leading scorer after Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Despite having a relatively better shooting night, the Nets ended up losing and Durant failed to convert the game-winner finishing with 26 points, 11 assists, and 7 rebounds shooting 10 of 21 from the field.
Kevin Durant involves in a heated exchange with analyst Nick Wright following the Nets back to back loss
The Brooklyn Nets gathered high expectations following the return of Kyrie Irving and even Kevin Durant after the All-Star weekend. The Team led the Eastern Conference for a better half of the season until after losing players to injuries and the trade deadline. After their most recent loss, Nick Wright felt the urge to take a jab at the former NBA Most Valuable Player.
The Twitter thread went as follows, Nick Wright said, “I legit feel for KD… he had to be 2nd best to LeBron for a decade, and the MOMENT he might’ve passed LeBron, Giannis passed him. 2nd player out of high school, 2nd pick in the draft, 2nd best player in the NBA for life. Legit awful luck.”
Durant replied saying, “Don’t feel bad for the god. Life has been incredible little Nicky.”
Wright countered saying, “Honest question before bed… if KD is a “god”, what does that made Giannis?”
KD shot back saying, “A god. Just like you are but you rather be a peasant.”
Nick Wright publically speaks about his exchange with Kevin Durant
Wright openly spoke about the exchange on ESPN’s First Things First saying, “Having that tweet I sent read all aloud to me, it was mean. So I don’t blame Kevin Durant for responding. It was a call back to the sport illustrated cover before he won his first MVP, where he said he’s been second his whole life.” He continued to take a shot at Durant’s reply saying, “I’ve been upgraded from puppet to peasant. But KD responded because what I said was true.”
Durant has not replied to these comments being passed by Wright on his show. However, KD’s response is inevitable. The Brooklyn Nets are headed for the play in-tournament ranking 8th in the East with a record of 40 wins and 37 losses. They have won only two of their last five games and six over their last ten. Durant is currently averaging 29.6 points, 7,3 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game on 52% shooting. The Nets will face the 10th seed Atlanta Hawks on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022.
