NBA Trade Rumors: LeBron James and Lakers eyeing two superstars in major landscape-shifting move

There would not be many fans who would argue that Russell Westbrook’s stint with the Lakers has been a very successful one. Having only been a part of the team for almost half of the season, Brodie has surely not got onto the right page for the purple and gold army. As a result of which LeBron James and the Lakers haven’t been able to impose their authority with their latest Big 3 in the 2021-22 season.
That being said, NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic recently went on the Pat McAfee Show to discuss the Lakers’ troubles. While they discussed a potential move f LeBron away from Hollywood, Charania quickly shot that down and indicated towards a landscape-shifting move which could re-ignite the lost flame in the Lakers’ roster.

Lakers looking to acquire Ben Simmons and Jerami Grant
According to the renowned NBA guru, LA desperately needs to add some firepower, and that it might come in the form of two superstars that have both been rumored to be on the trade block.
“They made that trade for Russell Westbrook in the summer and it hasn’t just paid dividends,” Shams said. “This team doesn’t look like it has the young legs that they need to have. That’s why I’ve heard that they have been active in the trade market. When you look at a guy like Ben Simmons, they’d love to get their hands on a guy like him. Jerami Grant, those are the types of guys that they need on this team. Young, 6’9″, 6’10”, athletic wings, can handle the ball, can score, can pass. They need guys like that. They don’t have enough of them that have the youth, in their prime type of experience.”
Ben Simmons can be an elite addition alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Not only will their boost their defensive prowess, but give more freedom to the bench players to attack, knowing that rim is well protected. Given that this is not the first time Grant or Simmons will be linked with Lakers, let us see if these rumors are actually going to come true before the trade deadline.
