The Wizards led the Sixers for the majority of the 1st half. But the Sixers came back strong in the 2nd half and built a big lead over the Wizards. The game got a bit one-sided but the fans still got to see some drama.

With 3:04 remaining in the 3rd quarter, Joel Embiid tried to post up Montrezl Harrell, and Harrell fell on the ground. Harrell quickly got up and stopped Embiid from making the layup, and ended up fouling him. This started a heated scuffle between the two centers, as they started grabbing each other by their shirts. Their teammates had to come and separate them from each other.

Harrell demanded an offensive foul on Embiid when he took the fall. Instead, the referee gave both men technical fouls while Embiid got to shoot two free throws.

Just thirty seconds later, with 2:35 remaining in the 3rd quarter, Embiid grabbed an offensive rebound and scored at the rim, drawing a foul off Harrell. That extended the Sixers’ lead to 16, with the score being 82-66. Embiid was pumped up and wasn’t going to be the one not to flex and let Harrell know. Harrell, infuriated, pushed Embiid resulting in him getting another technical, and he was done for the night following an ejection.

Harrell played 18 minutes in the game, scored 15 points, grabbed 3 offensive rebounds, and was +3 for the Wizards. He was the second-highest scorer in the lineup after Dinwiddie. Wizards’ star Bradley Beal sat out for his 2nd straight game due to being in the NBA’s Health and Safety Protocols. The 76ers are now 6th in the Eastern Conference while the Wizards have the 7th seed. Both the teams have identical records of 17-16 for the season.

While the Twitter reactions were mostly calling out Embiid for him acting tough but unwilling to take the fight forward by complaining to the refs, Harrell was not spared of the Twitter mocking either.
