Michael Jordan is considered by many as the greatest basketball player of all time. The former Chicago Bulls legend has managed to gross over a billion dollars from his basketball career and business ventures. It was said Jordan had no flaws in his game and had nothing left to learn. Jordan was the biggest superstar of his generation and there was nothing about Mike that fans didn’t know.
However, there is one part of Michael‘s life that people know about but never got any attention to it. It was Jordan’s first marriage. The former Chicago Bulls star has largely kept his personal life extremely private. Very less is known about his first wife, his children and his second wife. During his time with the Bulls, the billionaire married Juanita Vanoy and the couple remained together for a very long time.
Jordan and Vanoy first met in 1985 at a Bennigans restaurant in Chicago after a Bulls game. After dating for 4 years the couple tied the knot in November 1989 at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas. The couple had a son Jeffrey even before they were married. They had 2 more kids after their marriage, a son Marcus and a daughter Jasmine.
Juanita Vanoy and Michael Jordan divorced after 17 years of marriage
Jordan and Vanoy seemed happy until 2002 when she filed for divorce from the Bulls superstar. However, the divorce was postponed as the couple later reconciled and she withdrew her petition after a month of filing the divorce. Four years later the couple announced their split in a joint statement on 29th December 2006.
Quoting Ernie Rizzo, The Chicago Tribune published that the private investigator has caught Jordan in compromising situations with other women over 10 years from 1992-2002. This was the time Michael Jordan was still married to his ex-wife. The Jordan-Vanoy marriage is not unknown to many but has been largely omitted from Jordan’s life. Despite being married to Vanoy for 17 years, one of the most important parts of Jordan’s life was omitted from his documentary “The Last Dance.”
