Why did Ja Morant delete his Twitter and Instagram Accounts?
Ja Morant has now deactivated both his Twitter and Instagram accounts after the player issued an apology statement regarding the Saturday Iive stream where the point-guard was seen flashing a gun to thousand of spectators.
The internet has been taken by storm ever since Ja Morant’s Instagram live where the 23-year-old was seen flashing a gun at Night Club went viral. The act that saw the Memphis Grizzlies point guard face a 2-game suspension and further NBA investigation, has prompted more actions from Morant.
Ja Morant has now deactivated both his Twitter and Instagram accounts after the player issued an apology statement. His Instagram and Twitter handles are currently unavailable and the player himself mentioned he would be taking a temporary break from social media.
Here is what Morant’s statement read: “I take full responsibility for my actions last night. I’m sorry to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis, and the entire Grizzlies organization for letting you down. I’m going to take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being.”
Ja Morant’s issued statement implies the Grizzlies player will not be returning to the social media platforms until he learns to deal with stress. The apology statement was directed to the Grizzlies, his family and fans after the Saturday morning incident.
The 23-year-old point guard is said to have jeopardised his NBA career as he blatantly showed off a gun to thousands of spectators live. Morant had immediately been suspended for two games and many feel his return to the court might not be as easy as it seems.
Previously NBA spokesperson Mike Bass had stated that the issue was under investigation: “We are aware of a social media post involving Ja Morant and are investigating.”

Paul Pierce Stands with Ja Morant
With the entire media criticising Morant’s act, former Boston Celtics small forward Paul Pierce came up with some bold words in Ja Morant’s favour.
The 10-time All-Star said the media had no right to bash the incident and insisted Mornat fell target to racial prejudice.
“I don’t care what y’all say about Ja I carried a gun after I was stabbed y’all don’t know what he going thru everyone got something to say until u really know what’s really going on in someone life when u black and rich u a target period,” he wrote on Twitter.
Whether it was fair for Pierce to have attempted to justify Ja Morant’s actions – opens up another window of thought entirely. With some fans now speaking in favour of the 23-year-old point guard, it still is by no means acceptable to support such an unprofessional act from any athlete, let alone a 2-times NBA All-Star.
