Arsenal’s desire for Barcelona goalkeeper Neto has resurfaced as the club prepares to upgrade its goalkeeping options this summer. They are said to be highly interested in signing Neto this season and are keen to do so.

Arsenal are in discussions to sign the shot-stopper, who they sought to acquire in January but were unable to do so.

Despite possessing Bernd Leno and Runar Alex Runarsson, the Gunners are interested in signing Neto. Mikel Arteta believes that the 32-year-old is good with his feet and can initiate an assault from the back, which explains Arsenal’s interest in him.

After battling for minutes, the shot-stopper wanted to leave Camp Nou, but Barcelona wouldn’t let him. Things have changed since then, though.

Barcelona are trying to reduce their costs and is prepared to offload the goalkeeper, who is one of the highest-paid backup goalkeepers in the world, and Arsenal is eager to take benefit of this.

Even after not being in Ronald Koeman’s ambitions, Neto might still play for Barcelona owing to a long injury to Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

Arsenal may be able to take leverage of Barcelona’s financial difficulties. Barcelona have suffered greatly as a result of the ongoing global epidemic and might be required to sell some of its borderline players at a lower price.

Arsenal aren’t the only Premier League club interested in signing the Barcelona shot-stopper.  Tottenham Hotspur have also been associated with a deal for Neto.

Spurs are interested in acquiring the 32-year-old, with Hugo Lloris and Joe Hart unlikely to remain at the club for long. Tottenham have reportedly agreed to acquire Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, and if the deal is completed, they will likely drop their interest in Neto.

Despite demand from two teams, Neto’s agent feels that the best choice would be to join Arsenal.

However, as of now, the deal hasn’t taken effect.  Both Arsenal and Barcelona have a long way to go to make the deal happen.
