Second-seeded Chicago Bears host the weakest wildcard team, the Green Bay Packers, in the second game of the Wild Card Round. The Packers travel to the Windy City, where they will meet the NFC North division champions at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois, on Saturday, January 10.
The Bears return to the playoffs for the first time since 2020, when they qualified as the NFC’s inaugural No. 7 seed and were eliminated by the New Orleans Saints. Meanwhile, the Packers have qualified for the playoffs for the third consecutive season. The Packers were eliminated by the second-seeded Philadelphia Eagles last season in the Wild Card round.
In terms of wins, the Packers have the most recent win. The Packers defeated the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round, channeled by Jordan Love’s 272-yard, three-touchdown game, and the Packers’ defense forced two interceptions on Dak Prescott. The Bears’ last win was more than a decade and a half ago.
The Chicago Bears had a first-round bye and met the Seattle Seahawks in the 2010-11 season Divisional Round. Led by Jay Cutler, the Bears dominated the game from start to finish, securing a 35-24 win. In the conference game, the Packers packed them home.
It was their last conference game as well. As the cheeseheads line up at Soldier Field, the Bears would look to make their first win since 2011, while the Packers try to upset the divisional champions and return to the divisional round.

Why can the Green Bay Packers win?
The Green Bay Packers have postseason experience. Matt LaFleur is considered one of the best young head coaches in the league with a strong regular-season foundation. Though LaFleur has won just three times in eight games, his successive winning seasons at the beginning of his tenure have marked him as a fearsome man on the sidelines.
Back to the three wins in eight games, LaFleur might be desperate to change the narrative of a poor record. At times, Jordan Love has played like an MVP candidate in the regular season. He has missed the last two games due to a concussion, and he’s healthy coming into the Bears game. They even have a good collection of pass catchers and an elite running back in Josh Jacobs.
Why can the Chicago Bears win?
In the two regular-season meetings, the Chicago Bears showed resilience and late-game composure, most notably in the overtime win sealed by Caleb Williams’ walk-off touchdown pass to DJ Moore. Williams’ poise in high-pressure moments has been a defining trait of the Bears’ season, and his ability to extend plays, attack downfield, and deliver in crunch time gives Chicago a clear edge in what is likely to be another tight contest.

Against a Packers team dealing with injuries and inconsistency, particularly on defense without Micah Parsons, the Bears’ ability to pressure Jordan Love, disrupt timing, and capitalize on mistakes could tilt the game. With Green Bay missing key contributors and struggling to create the same defensive impact late in the season, Chicago’s balanced offensive approach should find opportunities.
