“I think it’s Aaron Rodgers’ intention to…” Albert Breer makes a bold claim about the superstar’s commitment to Green Bay
Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers will not be leaving the Green Bay Packers in the foreseeable future. The back-to-back NFL MVP winner recently signed a new contract with the Packers that lasts 4 years.
There was quite a lot of drama between Aaron Rodgers and the Packers over the last year. It started with a disappointing end to the 2020 season as Green Bay lost at home in the NFC Championship game to Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. Following that loss, Rodgers wanted out but the Packers were able to patch things up for at least one season.
2021 however, did not end any differently. In fact, it ended in a worse way as the Packers fell in the divisional round this time. Given what happened in the previous offseason, it seemed sure that Rodgers would want out again.
This time around, things have fallen differently with Rodgers committing to the Packers rather than essentially agreeing to an ultimatum. Albert Breer also sees things differently this season.
Albert Breer beleives Aaron Rodgers wants to retire as a Packer
Rich Eisen tweeted about Albert Breer saying “I think it’s Aaron’s intention to finish his career in Green Bay.”
It’s not the hottest take around but it certainly is quite the turnaround from where we were last year. Even earlier this year with the narrative that Aaron Rodgers wants a change of scenery flying around the media. But here we are, a brand new 4-year deal to make him the highest-paid player in the league.
It’s not too often you see a 38-year-old player become the biggest earner in a sport but that’s exactly what Aaron Rodgers is. It seems unlikely that he can pull a Tom Brady and play until he’s 45 but he is currently playing at his best right now so really, who knows?
Assuming he doesn’t intend to play that long, it’s not wild to believe this is his final NFL contract. He’ll play with Green Bay till he’s 42 and call it quits then. In the next 4 years, we might even see a bit of a decline, further emphasizing him wanting to retire. It’s just unbelievable to think we’ve come from, I want out of Green Bay to I’ll finish my career here.
