“He sent me his meme popping champagne!” Bobby Wagner reveals how Aaron Donald welcomed him to the LA Rams
Bobby Wagner and Aaron Donald
When Bobby Wagner parted ways with the Seattle Seahawks, there were rumors that he would like to join an NFC West rival. Sometime later, he joined the Los Angeles Rams and was happily welcomed by his teammates, including Aaron Donald.
The split between Seattle and Bobby Wagner was far from healthy as the team didn’t even personally let him know. He found out the same way we all did, the official announcement. For someone who gave 10 years to an organization in which he arguably became their best ever linebacker, it’s understandably upsetting for things to come to a close like that.
Many people believe Wagner chose to join the Rams simply because they’re in the same division as Seattle but he recently cleared things up on that matter saying “I wanted to be close to home and stay on the west coast. But, playing the Seahawks twice a year was the cherry on top. I’ll make sure they see me every time we play. It won’t be a quiet game for me.”
So, now that Wagner’s in LA, he’ll be pairing up with one of the best defenders in the game in Aaron Donald and he recently revealed how Donald welcomed him to the team.
Bobby Wagner shares an anecdote from when he signed with the Rams
Bobby Wagner joined ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ and was asked about how he was received when he signed with LA to which he said “We haven’t worked out yet but when I first got released they (Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey) were the first people that reached out to me and started texting me.”
Wagner further added “When I signed I called AD and Jalen texted me. I think he sent me his meme of him popping champagne!”
People were wondering how the Rams were gonna do considering that they lost some major pieces. But now, having signed Bobby Wagner, they have elite players on every level of their defense and on both sides of the ball making them a real threat once again in the NFC.
