Derek Stingley Jr. has impressed one and all with his talent and ability. The fantastic cornerback went to the Dunham School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and during his high school career, he had as many as 27 career interceptions. As a senior, he delivered even more impressive performances and was eventually named the Louisiana Gatorade Football Player of the Year.

Derek belongs to a family of athletes, His father, Derek Stingley, used to play in the Arena Football League whereas his grandfather, Darryl Stingley, featured in the NFL. Derek is being regarded as one of the major attractions for the 2022 NFL draft.

However, his Lisfranc injury might just make teams a little tentative before going after him. NFL Insider Brian Baldinger recently talked about the Eagles and claimed that they might go after Stingley as they have in the past backed injured players in the past and it has worked in their favor.

I don’t think the Eagles will all three first-round picks. I think one of them, they will flip for a first-round pick next year and more just in case they have to go to the QB market next year in case things don’t work out well with Jalen but I think they want to build a team around Jalen,” Baldinger said about the Eagles.

You look at Eagles’ history, they landed Landon Dickerson coming off an ACL tear a year ago. They drafted Sidney Jones when he was coming off an Achilles tear. I don’t think they will blink if Derek Stingley is there at the 15th. They have drafted players that have come off injuries before and it has worked for them,” he added.

As it turns out, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport recently Tweeted that Derek has recovered from the injury and is looking in good shape. It’ll be interesting to see where Derek finally ends up.
