While the Bills were victorious on Thanksgiving, they also suffered a setback when Bills Pro Bowl cornerback Tre’Davious White tore his ACL during Thursday night’s game.
It’s difficult to replace what an All-Pro like White brings to the club both on and off the field, and the defense has no option but to reinvent itself.
Bills need to level up their game after losing Tre’Davious White
Bills head coach Sean McDermott said, “It is next-man-up, regardless. But I think collectively as a team, we’ve got to take our game another level.”
It will be a test for the group, according to McDermott, because White has been playing at a high level this season.
One guy who has been highlighted as having a bigger role is Dane Jackson, and the new-look defense will be put to the test against the Patriots on Monday night.
McDermott added, “He’s always been a guy, coming from Pitt, that has had our DNA in terms of gritty, resilient, player that’s tough, and he’s up for the challenge, I know that. We have a lot of confidence in Dane Jackson.”

The coaching staff supports Dane Jackson
Leslie Frazier, the defensive coordinator, said it’s difficult to define precisely how important the LSU product is to the defense since he does so much more than simply make life difficult for opposing offenses.
Frazier said, “He’s a match-up guy. It’s hard to find those guys in our league. But he’s allowed us to do some things on defense because of his ability to eliminate other people’s number one receiver. So there’s some big shoes to fill.”
Although Jackson will not be able to take White’s place, the coaching staff believes in his abilities. Since joining the NFL, he has appeared in 16 games and has been involved in 25 tackles, one interception, five passes defended, and one fumble recovery.
