Derek Carr has a strong response to Davante Adams’ controversial statement comparing him and Aaron Rodgers

Former Green Bay Packer and now a Raider, Davante Adams, caused quite a stir in the NFL earlier this week. The star wideout claimed that his former Fresno State teammate QB Derek Carr is as great as 4x NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers.

This statement did not sit right with NFL fans. They bashed Adams on Twitter for comparing one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time and Derek Carr who is yet to win a postseason game.

Derek Carr said he’s yet to achieve the things Aaron Rodgers has in his career

Davante Adams refused to play on the franchise tag for the Packers which led him to leave Green Bay and reunite with his college teammate Derek Carr in Las Vegas. Since the Packers were unable to draw a new contract for Adams as they were literally out of money after paying Aaron Rodgers, Adams decided to look elsewhere and his unique bond with Carr led him to settle down in Las Vegas.

Adams recently compared Carr with Rodgers and even went on to say that both the QBs are equal in terms of greatness. “As far as talent and ability, it’s really similar. If I’m keeping it real, they throw the ball a lot different. Not many quarterbacks can get it to you before you get to the sideline, having two guys like that with really strong arms, and understanding the game, the mental part of it, is another similarity that they have. They both obsess over it and they know everything that’s going on out there.” Davante Adams stated.

“Aaron has won a Super Bowl, MVPs, I haven’t done those things,” Carr told Bri Mellon of ABC30. “But I think, just from a talent aspect, I don’t think people realize, in the NFL, just how close the gap is on everybody. The margin for victory for every game is this close. Obviously, if you want to compare resumes, I haven’t won the awards he’s won. But from a talent standpoint, we all go out and throw together and we can all throw a football pretty pretty good. … I understand what Tae’s saying and I appreciate it, but the respect that I have for Aaron, and Aaron knows that as I’ve told him many times, I’ve got a long way to go to be in that conversation.”

From an accomplishment standpoint, Derk Carr isn’t anywhere close to the vicinity of Aaron Rodgers. The Packers QB has 1 Super Bowl, 4x NFL MVPs, and countless other records under his belt which make home an all-time great. Derek Carr has been a good quarterback so far but he is yet to achieve a single Super Bowl or even an MVP award. During his eight-year stint in the NFL, Carr has made it to the playoff only once and has lost that game. Still, it shouldn’t go unnoticed that Carr finished 3rd in the 2016 MVP voting. He would’ve won had it not been for injury.

At this point in his career, Carr can’t be considered as an all-time great but he’s only 31 years old. Since the Raiders have gone under a leadership change and Josh McDaniels has taken the reins in his hands, maybe Carr can elevate to the same heights as Rodgers. Even though it’s a stretch to suggest that, he could surprise everyone in the 2022 season. Let’s wait and watch how Carr fairs!
